GP Bombs, now have Effect=0 ?

Appears a major change happened regarding the GPHE bomb data.

Specifically, the Effect fields have been zeroed out ?

I don't see anything in the recent patch notes about it.

Also checked the patch notes here:
https://steamdb.info/patchnotes/9902424/

I am not sure when this change happened or even if this was intentional. But completely wiping out the Effect fields :?: :?:

I can understand them being adjusted or tweaked. But setting these Effect values to 0 across the board, I am scared to think about how this has impacted ground support missions....

Honestly, this looks more like you are haphazardly tossing numbers around... :(

However, it is a rather significant change and flies in the face of what the current documentation says....
Effect is an overall measure of the impact of the weapon and a higher value
indicates more explosive impact. The values are related to the amount of high
explosive in the bomb or other weapon system. Accuracy reflects the chance to hit a
target and the lower the value the less likely this is to happen while the blast radius
...
For a strategic bombing mission, if the target is solid (a factory, port facility or oil
field) then it is usually better to use as heavy a bomb as possible. A 500lb bomb has
an effect value of 1100 compared to 550 for a 250lb bomb. In addition, larger bombs
have much wider blast areas and are thus less reliant on precise accuracy.

The end result is that Naval Interdiction missions that rely on these bombs (as is the case for the BV132c - Matrix did not provide any other bomb load than the 6x50kg GPHE loadout), are completely ineffective using this data. :x

Whereas previously, that was not the case.

This has to be a mistake surely. By scaling all bombs back to zero effect it’s a massive nurf on any of the larger bomb types

Either way was this a documented change? (I may have missed it)

Examples of Naval Interdiction flown using BV-132Cs.

Effect is not used at all by aircraft weapons so it was removed from most of them, some leftovers will be fixed soon.
I believe this is a leftover data item from old games like Bob/BtR series or WitP

Following is an example using exact same aircraft, BV-132C, same loads of 6x50GPHE bombs.

Only difference was the 50kg GPHE data.

Tested multiple times, same results.

And if Effect is truly not being used, then why have it at all? Why not zero-out all devices that have it?

Appears this should be reflected in the living manual as well and remove the sections that reference it as if it is still a valid data field.

Same misions, bomb load and aircraft flown.

Only difference was the bomb data.

We did but darkhorses testing of naval patrol says otherwise?

For me it looks like this: (attached)

So essentially Naval Planes with 50kg Bombs on naval interdiction have 0 naval Interdiction. 8-)
...are this the wrong bombs maybe? Don't know which exact type of bombs those planes used in '41 WW2.

Agree and that’s what darkhorse has shown. Previously it did have an effect on NP. If “effect” had no impact on either scenario then some other factor must have changed for NP

I hope Denniss' post does not mean that it is intended for BV 138s to be completely and utterly worthless planes that suck up freight and do nothing.

Fixed in 1.02.52 data.
