You seem to be one of the more analytical of the player base.

I have always been been confused by final CV ratio (outcome) and battle simulation (outcome).

This is how I understand it.

CV Ratio

Final CV ratio is the roll of initial values, defense factors (like terrain, forts) reserves, SUs allocated. This CV ratio is used to determine if you won or lost. HOLD/SURRENDER/RETREAT/ROUTE/SHATTERED. Effectively, the macro outcome only depends on this.

Battle Simulation

Most of the stuff you see in the combat report is for flavor. The intuitive sense that the CV Ratio results from this is wrong, but instead the Battle Simulation results from the factors impacting the CV Ratio.

Conclusion

CV Ratio and Battle Simulation are largely independent parallel systems. Where they intersect is that Battle Simulation output units are used for future CV Ratio inputs. Perhaps, the most obvious example is the reduction of a fortification level due to Battle Simulation.

Hi Mark, don't overestimate me, I am just a common guy trying to make sense of things, which sadly doesn't mean I always manage to do so.
Additional it is hard to makes sense of a system which is that much reliant on rolls of leaders and therefore RNG.
Better ask the whole Community!
There are many which play the game more on a "feeling/rule of thumb-based" way to determin the Combat results which may be not too bad of an approach when RNG is involved.

You have to differentiate between initial and final CV!

Defenders initial CV is AFAIK all shown on map/on Counter whereas Attacker initial CV will be initially reduced by things like Rivercrossing-Disruption, Blizzard-Disruption, Density (this one can also increase Attackers CV) and the "Road-Ground-Weather-Modifier" which you have to remember when attacking.

Since there are Battles without any shot being taken it's obvious that those initial CV values must be used to determin if actual combat will take place at all (That's how I interpret this).

The final CVs are used to create the odds/CV Ratios, those are used to determin the result of the Battle (SHATTER et cetera) as you stated, that one is heavily impacted by unknown rolls concerning the leaders of the two parties, which makes it hard to track what's actually going on/being rolled in the background, but it is also impacted by the Battle Simulation!

I guess they added this Battle Simulation not just for flavour but also to show how Battles are won by at least two factors, the tactics (leader rolls) and the fighting units. The Leader rolls represent the greater effect imo.

Ground elements that were Disrupted/Damaged/Destroyed during the Battle simulation will not add to the final CV and therefore impacting the final Odds of a Battle, I guess that's something you are missing on your "list".

Thats right and as said before you have to add that the Battle itself has an effect on the result due to Ground Elements being DES/DAM/DIS in the Battle Simulation.

Thats my quick response, I guess there is just this two points missing in your assessment that there is initial/final CVs and that DES/DAM/DIS Ground Elements will not contribute to final CV.

But as initially said, ask all, many are willing to help i guess I may also confuse things from time to time, since there is so much to remember/learn.
So if I am wrong about something I am willing to learn as well.
