My Foreign affairs director seems to be in the wrong Faction.
She is Autocracy -3, Fist +2

At gamestart she joined the Martial Army, which is Autocracy +1, Fist +3.
While she does agree on one Half, she is kinda 4 point mismatch on the other.

Keep in mind that affiliation to a political party is only partly due to matching ideologies and also based on the ambition of the Leader and the prospects the faction might give him.

It's really weird though, when that leader ends up Faction Leader, especially on the first turn !

So, what seems to have happened here :
*Somehow*, Caleb, who isn't particularly ambitious, has founded a faction for which Profiles he is neutral towards ??
And then the ambitious Isabel, who is also neutral towards it, has swooped in, taken the lead (without it being mentioned in the log), and later somehow managed to have her Profile preferences to drift to be the opposite of the faction she leads ?!

What IMHO should have happened :
Isabel should have founded and become lead of a faction (probably in 2nd, as she is 2nd in Ambition regime-wide).
She should have picked the 4th most Ambitious leader to found it with (in this case still Caleb).
This should have resulted in (probably, unless the 1rst faction's picks have counter-indicated it) a focus in Commerce (because of Caleb and my starting Regime focus), and Meritocracy or Mind (because as 2nd it would have been the opposition faction, and either of these suppresses my regime's Democracy or Heart). Isabel should then have immediately picked up that Profile as a +.

v1.21c :
Ok, I don't know any more, this time founding the starting factions seems to be ANTI-correlated with Ambition (?!), there's still the bug of the wrong leader being Faction leader, but this time it's the least ambitious one that "stole" that seat from the more ambitious one ??

If there are not a lot of Leaders available you'll see more "weird" matches, due to lack of better candidates.

I'll be fleshing out politics more in the future.

You have to imagine all the non-simulated people in the background (like the guys sitting in the parliament or senate)... its them that form the Faction and that look for Leaders afterwards.
