I found my old Combat Mission game CD's (Beyond Overlord and Barbarossa to Berlin) and put the former in the DVD for the heck of it.Surprisingly it ran without issue or fiddling with settings on my Win 10, I9 box. I didn't expect it to. Maybe tomorrow I'll see if I have the same results with B2B.

Wow! Now I gotta go to my dingy basement and find my old CDs. Good to know!

I play the old CMx1 games more than the newer ones.

They may be less realistic but they are more fun - but then I prefer Hearts of Iron 2 to the later 3 and 4; and I prefer Shogun 1 and Medieval ! Total War games to the later versions; and Europa Universalis 2 to 3 and 4.

The CMx1 games are available on GOG as are some of the others I've mentioned but not the Total War ones.

Just an update to my comment almost 2 years ago - the early Total War games - Shogun, Medieval, and Rome are now available on GOG and run OK on my Win 11 laptops with Intel integrated graphics.

I actually came to the forum to see if there was a solution to the blurry text on CMBN - but it seems there isn't - so I will stick with CMBO.

There is a bundle on Steam of the old CM games for $15. The work wide screen and seem to have a lot of mods preloaded. There's also mouse wheel zoom which is great. They all seem to work just fine.

For CMBN you might want to double check all of your display settings. Many newer computers come with integrated graphics which Windows will use by default, you'll want to ensure that CMBN is using your high performance GPU.

It may also be related to your screen settings. Are you running with a DPI of 125%? If so, you might find it useful to go to the compatibility section of the application's property dialog and ensuring that high DPI scaling is set to application.

Thanks for the TW on GOG info, I'll have to take a look.

Thanks I found that two of my selection of laptops have a Radeon graphics thing and these run CMBN clearer than the integrated graphics ones.
