Soviet Logistics in Hungary

Is there any particular trick to keeping Soviet armies supplied in Hungary, and if so how many Troops can you push into that area before the rail network is totally overwhelmed no matter how you set your depots up? In my most recent Soviet game I managed to knock Romania out of the war by early 1943 (my game's "stalingrad moment" was the destruction of a German army around Rostov during the winter 41/42 counteroffensive, moving everything up by about a year in the south), but my supply situation was always such a disaster that I couldn't launch any offensives in this area, and the front line sat along the Koros river and in the Western edge of Northern Transylvania for the rest of the war, which felt like a missed opportunity. I'm still figuring out the WitE2 logistics system, but it always felt like the situation in Hungary was even worse than elsewhere on the front. I had about one full front worth of troops in the area, but could never keep them supplied. I was using automated depot control but also manually correcting what was automatically created (since the AI doesn't seem to be able to make a functional logistical network here, and I ended up having to constantly remove priority 1 depots near Bucharest, manually adjust depot priority to get the ports functioning, creating depots between Bucharest and the front-line depots, etc).
