Playing as Human empire. Researched Fuel Cell (v2) but traded for Mega-Density Fuel Cell tech. Only Fuel Cell (v2) is listed in Ship Design screen using 'Latest Per Category' display option. However, Mega-Density Cell is listed when sorting by 'All Components' or 'General'.

The AI auto-upgrades hulls with Mega-Density cells just fine.

Not using mods or altered files.

They are not listed because they usually are not the latest. They are fuel cells and the game will only show one fuel cell category in the list, just like they only show one hyperdrive when you filter on this option. If memory serves me right it will always list the component that was unlocked with the most expensive research. If they are unlocked with the same research cost I don't know how it shows. So in this case it will show the large fuel cell first and then the mega fuel cell for example.

I think this is part of the issue of using this filtering option. I tend not to use if for that reason and just have it sorted by name, I know the name of the components anyway so not a big deal for me.

With both researched, one game shows Fuel Cell, the next shows Mega Fuel Cell.
In both cases without the later Large Fuel Cell researched.
