Council Reports

Hi,

I don't know if I play it wrong. If I tell my leader (in the economic council) to not research anything because I don't want / need the possible research and to use the bp for discovery. If something then is newly discovered my leader doesn't ask me again. Sometimes I ask myself why I can't get any new research results and if I ask him eventually I see that there are a lot of possibilities for researching.
On the other hand the model council seems to ask me everytime if I want to create a new model although I told him not to create a new model.

What do I do wrong?

Regards

James

You should get a VID message "new technology discovered". That is your clue to call up the Economic Council about actually researching the stuff.

As for why they do not call you up all the time or consistently: That is a decision Vic made

Yeah, there is a VID message. But sometimes I don't remember if there is a running research and therefore I don't get a report from the council or if my researchers are all on vacation :-D Perhaps Vic might change this one ;-)

Or you go to reports (F7). The Overview lists what all councils are up to. You can also go directly to Reports->Organizations and look up that specific council.

Thanks. It seems that nobody has the problem that one sometimes forgets that no research is running. Don't you think it would be nice if my advisor would ask me if there is a new possible research target if his departement doesn't research something at the moment?

I'd actually prefer the model design council not nagging me about it. :)

But ideally that would be something I could order each council (not) to do - so everybody'd be happy.

The problem is that I sometimes forget whether I'm researching something (especially when running all four research councils)--I see the notification, think "I'll research that next", and 10 turns later get curious why I my (nonexistent) prior research project hasn't finished.

It's also annoying that calling someone rather than using the periodic popup costs PP--even if the amount is nominal, it makes me think twice about changing things. (And it's particularly maddening when I call my model design council to design something, discover that my tech isn't good enough to design anything worthwhile (particularly common with planes), and the PP is just wasted.)

I think the biggest, easiest QoL change for Shadow Empire would be dropping the yearly budget decisions, dropping the PP cost from calling people to adjust budget/priorities, and add the reminder the OP suggested. It's annoying to spend a significant part of my playtime clicking through decisions that I almost never want to interact with, only to need to keep state in my head and work through the reports interface to take the actions I use most often.

I think every council should ask when they get a new option, while not actively researching anything.

Exactly, this is what I meant!
