I started the game with manualy automated ship design but then I researched skip drive and I set it to automated BUT my ships do not upgrade to skip drive? Is it a bug?

There are also some buttons like "Mark selected as auto hull upgrade" or "Mark selected auto retrofit"? If I click them nothing it is shown as marked or something in my list? Why must everything always be so complicated and not explained in the manual! I do not get it!

Sometimes it can take a new research being completed to trigger the AI to review automatic designs.

In general automatic designs will not respect any components you used first.
