A small question : What is the maximum map size ?
Sometimes i wonder having a huge map to maneuver (without increasing the number of units, keeping like a battalion) could be very interesting.

I believe it is around 45 X 45 km. Max row/column count is 99. Most of the maps are in the 20-25km X 15-20km range with a few large maps.

You can have more columns then the 99 limit on rows. I’ve made 60x45.

News to me. Thanks. I thought we were limited to a two-digit ID. Learn something new every day.

I think the limit is what can be rendered when making the map jpg. I used a custom jpg on the Bayreuth map. Big maps definitely can slow down things, and designing a scenario for a map this size would be a different, and more involved process. Something I want to keep experimenting with as time allows.

Technically, we're limited to two-digit row numbers, but can go into three-digit columns. Which means max 49km high, and no hard limit for its width.
Practically, the game is designed for the 20x15 - 35x20km sweet spot, and gracefully extends beyond that at the cost of reduced performance.
Our map creation pipeline also becomes inefficient at wide maps, both in the GIS tooling (spherical earth) and in the rendering tools.

Using UTM projection eliminates the distortion with slightly wider maps.

If you get too big with the scenario, the game will slow down as more internal checks for everything take longer. That is why we focus on the size and scale we do in the game. It is nice to know we can, in certain cases, go larger.
