It is interesting why Chinese human rights are told by an admiral?
I think he talks about Uygur, BBC also talks much about it but it doesn't have much audience even in Turkey.

The great majority of problems could have been solved 20 years ago if we hadn't let the Chinese suck all the industry out of the West.
I saw somewhere that said, potentially, China has the industrial war capacity 5 times greater than the US during WW2.
You didn't have to be an intelligence officer to see that coming...

Yes, never agreed with the idea that economic improvements would necessitate positive change in other areas. At a minimum other reforms should have been required up front and those requirements enforced to enable greater economic access. There was a lot of self-delusion about China's own strategy in the 90's and early 00's as well as the usual short-term thinking on our parts.
