Problem: V1.3 Sound Effects Issue

For a while everything was normal but then the problem occurred ...

Side A - No sound effects for unit moving, firing, etc. However, background sounds work.
Side B - All sounds are normal when its the computer turn. Even side A units opportunity fire works during side B turn.

I tried a complete uninstall, reinstalled from V1.0, then updated to new V1.3 - same problem. Problem is persistent and acts the same in all scenarios that i tried.

Any Thoughts, Suggestions?

If you try Options > Action Speed > Show All Speeds, you will probably see something like this:


Note

• that 1024 is the default action delay
• that for Player Turn, the action delay is set to 768, which is less than the default
• where it says: "At speeds faster than default, no sound"

This is consistent with

• During the Side A Player Turn, there are no movement sounds etc.
• During the Side B AI Turn, all sounds play.

Probably at some point (during the human player turn) you pressed the Toolbar Speed Up (F7) button, thereby reducing the Player Turn Game Action Delay below default.

You can try Options > Action Speed > Default Speed All to restore all defaults (to 1024). There are many other ways to tweak the action speeds (delays) exactly to your liking.

Nothing broken here. But admittedly this can all be a bit tricky.
