I know they are not perfect, bad jumping, bad armor (specially k-2), no flares, and no shield in k-1, but if they get in range are mortal no matter what the opponent is or has.
I personally prefer the first version, shield is only for approaching the enemy
:D

I know from personal experience how nasty these guys are. All they need is enough armor or good terrain to get within range of the NMs, and you're toast - literally.

from memory, here's what I did: First off, I packed on as much armor as possible. That meant that every spot, other than the head, has 74 points of armor, and the head has 28 or something. After that, I decided to add some firepower. My origional idea was AC12s, so I put 2 on, the decieded I wanted some more power and added 2 AC20s. At that point I got stuck. I had lots of weight left over, and quite a few slots too, so I just started adding random junk... tried some wepons, removed them, tried various different combinations of electronics... and finally, settled on the electronics here... tell me what you think. I'm desparately trying to make titans that work, I never have really succeded....

The titan has good firepower, and obviously good armor. The heat reg might be a little weak for extended combat, especially in hell or against NMs/flamers. No ECM means you'll be scanned easily, and no shield can be problem. On the other hand, in duels, at least, the time it would take your opponent to get through the thick armor might make the difference, since they'll be weathering heavy cannon fire at the same time.

Hmm, good points... I didn't have quite enough room for a better heat reg (i had to shift a lot of stuff around as it is), but I might look into it.

Also, looking at it with knowledge of our current (not-quite-finished) duel, it may have a vulnerability to large amounts of Meson fire. Normal wepons would have a hard time getting to the internals, but even the CT could break after 10 or so HMG hits.

Perhaps with some testing i'll see what it needs.

That design is similar to one of mine, the main differences from mine being (much) more armor, and a smaller engine, jump port, and heat reg; also, mine has a small shield, and one or two mg's or small lasers. If I had the stats available, I'd show you.

I like the AC 12/20 mix. It provides great close-support for melee-combat titans, and acts as a fantastic "bodyguard" for missile boats when facing an airdrop. Also, the AC12's give it a decent range and firing rate, and the 20's... well, they're 20's! :D

All that might change with the new TOS:WS, though.

All I can say is, save your favorites to text files, then try to recreate them in WS. Who knows, you might find some ways to make them better that just aren't available now.

Well, it stood up to a test by AI, very well too. I think it was a medium, a light and a recon that it was faceing - and it stomped them. By the time the battle was over it had a few scratches in the paint job, little else. Not even a yellow body part or anything else. The mesons were a minor problem, but the titan carrying them fell pretty fast and that was that. Of course, seeing what it can do against a real person is another thing entirely.

Thats right. Besides, making new designs is part of the fun. Now they are very easy to share. Once an export file is available you paste it to your TOSWS/data/xchange folder then in the factory there is this big button 'Import'. you can pick and choose which titans to take which ones to skip. An xch file can have a bunch of titans on it. Not just one. You can export entire databases.

I think our factories will soon be brimming with designs from all over.
