Hello all

Ever since I installed the 1.1.4.4 update to Distant Worlds 2 I've begun to experience constant stuttering during loading and gameplay. This never used to happen before I installed that particular update and I'm at a loss as to why its happening now. Any help in fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I installed and am using this game with GOG Galaxy if that makes any difference.

Hey thanks for the report! We recently released a public beta v 1.1.4.8. Could you please try using the beta and see if you're still getting this stuttering issue.

I've just tried out the latest beta update for the game and unfortunately the stuttering issues are still there. Please keep in mind that this issue may be specific to my system as it is several years old at this point.

Any further help you could provide would be greatly appreciated though.

Sorry to hear that.

Here are some things you can provide that may help in figuring out what's going on:

- Number of processor cores - in other words, what's your processor?
- Any 3rd party anti-virus or security software you may be actively using
- A Windows System Information Report - follow these steps (for Windows 10 and 11 users):
1. Open the Start menu and in the search field type "System Information"
2. Open System Information
3. In the top-left corner click on "File" and then "Export - it should take a few moments to create a text file that you can then save and share.

My processor is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 4001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) and I am using Windows Defender as my security software. Please find attached the System Information Report you requested.

Please do not worry about this issue too much as I suspect the problem is with my computer and not the game.

No, it's a desktop pc, but I think the problems I'm having are due to the faulty secondary drive that my computer has.
Either way, I'm not interested in pursuing this matter any further as I'm about to get a new pc so will play the game on it instead.

Understood. Thanks for the information! Let us know if you still encounter this issue on your new PC + please try out the latest public beta builds to see if that resolves your issue.

I've had stuttering issues since I first switched to the original beta branch of Hyperspeed a while back. It only happens when zooming or panning though. It's not due to PC specs, as it's on a new 24-core CPU and a 4090.

I am also having lagging issues. It seems to happen consistently when my ships are fighting gravillex. All my CPU cores go full and it stutters for a bit.

I came back to play after a long break. I didn't have this issue during the early versions.

Just tested the beta 1.1.5.6. Same thing first time I loaded. Reloaded same battle and didn't occur again. Maybe next battle...

At least 1 condition where it happens.
With a ship selected AND zooming in and out, and possibly panning.
System Thread Pool increases and all CPUs go 100

Not the only condition.
Seems to occur only when a ship is selected. THIS!!!!

Ok another good clue.

1. A ship I own is selected
2. Move the mouse at all. If I just twirl the mouse around all CPUs hit 100 and stay there.

Does not occur if
1. A enemy ship is selected
2. A fleet is selected

Specifically, you can press the following keys Shift + ` to open the performance overlay and take screenshots of what you see. This may help track down what's going on.

Ship selected, moving mouse in a circular pattern.
