Italian Surrender and UK takes over the Alps?

Upon Italian surrender due to loss of Tripoli, Naples, Taranto and Palermo (which seems too small a portion of Italian manpower/production in and of itself,) why does the entire rest of Italy without a German unit physically in it turn to UK controlled hexes?
The game notes say control should pass to Germany.

The way it has always been, Fairly historical really, as Germany you have to be prepared for the defection of your ally

If this control behind the lines changing to the allies is a feature perhaps the game notes should be changed so that newer players aren't misled. They pretty clearly say Italian hex control passes to Germany. Perhaps Alvaro can clarify if this is a feature or a bug.

Yea you have to prepare for the surrender as the Germans did.
Italy actually fell once the Allies landed in Sicily if I remember. But that's too damn cruel to do to players.
Also the Italians suffered huge losses in 1940 and 1943. They might have in 41 and 42 I don't remember. But the people were done with the war.
But good idea to add it to notes.
