I suggest to change the fixed deployment ports of 2 British naval units. The British CV carrier that deploys at Bristol and the Free French CL Le Triomphant should be allowed to be deployed in any British port. It is easy for veteran Axis players to attack and destroy these ships as soon as they are deployed, waiting with subs and bombers in the area.

The Illustrious Carrier can easily be made to have free deployment in the UK. However, the Triomphant cannot, as it arrives by script.

So its arrival port could be changed, in which case, where do you suggest changing it to?

Or we could have it vary so that the Axis player cannot be sure where it will deploy, e.g. in some games it will deploy at Portsmouth, at others in Liverpool or elsewhere?

Just change the timing of the script so the triomphant arrives the end of the previous Axis turn or the beginning of the Allied turn. Then the Allied player can move it or suffer the consequences.

I seem to remember a similar problem with the Flying Tigers in China but no longer have this problem- i think the fix was the same- allies have an opportunity to position it before the axis players moves.

The Flying Tigers is easier to regulate as it can just be set to arrive on a certain date, whereas the Triomphant's deployment is affected (admittedly not in all games) by the date at which France falls.

So implementing a similar change to that with the Flying Tigers would mitigate, but not remove this issue.

Maybe a mixture of that plus changing/alternating the port?

The Illustrious Carrier can easily be made to have free deployment in the UK. That will be great.
Le Triomphant needs a port out of reach of Axis naval bombers. I suggest Clyde mayor port near Glasgow.
