Sorry if this is a silly question but is there any ongoing devlopment work happening for this game?
I'd love a bug fix for the documentation button not working on the scenario menu.
Kind Regards

I just tried it and it's working fine.

Hello General
Please see the attached screenshot showing no documentation for the tutorial scenario, even though I know for a fact that the tutorial has a MS Word document for it.
For reference this is a fresh install from Steam.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards, PrivateLsd

Here's how it looks on mine. Note that you're also missing the scenario bitmap. So...something's not right with your setup.
How are you running it? (What icons are you clicking on?)

Thank you for your speedy reply General.
As I mentioned before, this is happening with a copy of the game freshly installed off of Steam that I have also verified the files for. All I'm doing is opening Steam and then navigating to my library where I click on TOAW 4 and then click play. So, in other words, nothing fancy.
In the meantime, I have found a post on the forum from someone experiencing exactly the same problem I am so I will paste it below. I understand the post includes a workaround for the problem but I was hoping for something more official like a patch which would benefit all owners of the game.

Some of this is covered in the Troubleshooting problems with running the first time, but I thought it worth another topic.
To find out what new players might experience, I have been experimenting with a clean installation. To do a clean install, not only the uninstall script should be run, but also the installation directory and the Documents/My Games directory should be deleted. When 4.1.0.40 is installed, the Scenario Menu doesn't work properly. The BMP backgrounds don't display, and the Documentation button doesn't work. This is also a problem with a clean installation of the Steam version.
Temporary workaround: Cut-and-paste the directories Scenarios and Graphics Override from the installation directory to the My Games/The Operational Art of War IV/ directory. The game then finds the BMP files and documentation, assuming that appropriate apps are installed to read them.
I have long been worried that new players might not know about this fix and would never find the scenario documentation."

The problem you’re mentioning is also discussed in the Update v4.1.0.40 thread. If you install the .20 version installer and then update to v.40 (latest patch) it should work as intended.
I think the problem occurs if you are updating the game from .21 to .40

Aaargh - you mean there's documentation for scenarios?
I just checked the installs of TOAW4 on my various PCs and none of them link to documents.
UGH - I thought it was sotrted with all the update to .40 .
------
Please don't reply - I think I'll go and lie down for a few days.
-------------------
Edit - a bit later. I found the documents after some searching - this was my location for the Tutorials files:
C:\Games\The Operational Art of War IV\Scenarios\TUTORIALS
I can't face doing re-install so I'll just try and remember to look and see if there is any documentation when I try another scenario.

Several years ago I converted a lot of the scenario description files to PDF and dropped them onto the google docs thing so people could d/l them etc. I think the links are still here somewhere. i found them to be lot easier to read. I'll leave a link here if I can find them. Edit: here is one of the links. Searching the forums you can find other of my "Encyclopedia" posts. As I recall, there were separate threads for WWI, WWII, WWIII etc. Good luck.

Thank you so much for the information General, it’s exciting to see what’s in store for the future. I pray that a patch to fix the Steam version is one day issued as well

There is no issue. What are you talking about?
Oh wait. I know what you mean. Yeah don't know who messed that one up. Easy to work around.
For instance Korea 2013.
Copy the document file. Go do Documents/My Games/The Operational Art of War IV/Scenarios/Modern - Asia and make a folder for Korea 2013. Put the document in there and it will pop up like it's supposed to. Might sound like a pain but it's a very easy work around. Someone fubared that one but good.
Or just copy the entire Scenario folder and paste it in Documents/My Games/The Operational Art of War IV. That should work and take care of the entire lot.
