Isolation - does it need to get fixed?

Orel with two regiments, level 3 dug in, good CP and over 600 tons flown in for each of two consecutive turns.
More than enough supply in the hex and the units.
Still outlined in red.
But: defensive value just short of 100.
Next round: SURRENDER after one combat with a ratio of 2.2 and minimalistic losses for the attacker.
Do I miss something or is this not as it should be?

Sounds like a bug, you may want to post it in the tech support area with some screenshots and/or a save file.

Flying in sufficient freight only removes the isolation combat penalty. It does not remove the binary isolation status/condition that leads to units surrendering.

Thanks ...
... so it's a basic issue that leads to unhistorical results.
I had a feeling like that from other multiplayer games, but this time I set it up as a sort of experiment in order to be able to rule anything else out.

IIRC, if you meet the requirements for airhead supply, you will be isolated during your turn, but not during the enemy turn. This makes it hard for you to attack out, but also should make it harder for the enemy to attack you. There are combat penalties for being isolated that are very harsh. IIRC, there are some smaller penalties for being in an isolated hex (cut off but the unit may not yet be isolated). I don't remember offhand, but think that even with airhead supply the hexes remain isolated so there are some penalties. The Stalingrad to Berlin scenario allows you to see how this plays out in practice. Good troops can hold out when in airhead supply. Weaker units (low morale/experience) probably can't.
