I vassalized another empire and eventually they only had one planet left, and then it rebelled so they seized to exist, all of their remaining bases and ships turned independent. Now what's really annoying is that these independent ships fly around and sometimes attack mine, who don't fight back until I order them to. Not to mention it's a pain going around all these systems manually attacking the bases one by one, I can't even just right click on them because then my fleet will go there to refuel, I have to select for them to attack.
