[Q] Question on Ops Planner and dynamic missions

If I have units set up for dynamic missions (able to be in multiple missions) is the Flight Planner generator supposed to work? As soon as I change a unit to dynamic on the right side of the mission editor, the Flight Planner stops working. If flight plan generation is supposed to work, I'll post a bug report. Otherwise, I'll live with it.

Should I move this to tech support?

I have semi-solved the dynamic mission issue. First off, the mission has to be triggered to work and even give you a chance at a flight plan. The, when I first go to settings in a mission with units checked as dynamic (available for multi-mission), I can choose flight plan options, but nothing happens. If I let the game fun for 5-10 seconds, a flight plan gets generated and can be edited. Not sure if that's WAD or not. I don't have to do that with the non-dynamic units.

btw, same process in 1307.18 and 1328.6.

I have included three saves...

1) CAP mission with flight plan selected. Mission name is "Z CAP". Press "Create Flight Plan" in mission settings and a flight is created. On game start, the flight readies and takes off to follow the generated flight plan. This lets you edit the flight plan prior to game or mission start. Name of save "Operation Brass Drum, 2017 No Dynamic CAP".

2) CAP mission attempt with flight plan selected. Mission name is "Z CAP". Highlight all F/A-18s in the mission then checkoff "Dynamic" All aircraft names turn yellow. Set phase to "Triggered". Press "Create Flight Plan" in mission settings and no flight is created. Name of save "Operation Brass Drum, 2017 with Dynamic CAP no flight plan game stopped".

3) Now if you start the game, wait 15s and a press "Create Flight Plan" and a plan is created and the rest of the flights follow it. This means no flight plan editing for dynamic units until game/mission start.
Name of save "Operation Brass Drum, 2017 with Dynamic CAP with flight plan game ran 15s".

My question is if this is WAD. Can you not edit flight plans of mission units listed as dynamic until they start the take off process?

All saves built with 1307.18 using stock Op Brass Drum.

So I am assuming no one knows or has the answer to this?

I struggle too.

A mission can be inactive and active
It can be dynamic
In the ops planner the mission can be satisfied on hold or running
In the mission planner it can be waiting for a trigger triggerd or satified

But what is connected to what...escapes me.
A example flow/ mission which works would be appreciated.

I'm actually trying to build that flow for the manual. But stuck on this and a couple other questions.

At the moment there is no coordination between flight plans and units queued to multiple missions. Flight plan works in entirely different scope and would work with effectively assigned units in the "classic" way of using Command and missions.
So for this case the flight plan works as intended and ops planner would not interfere.

This means no predictive flight plan for dynamic units, due to the uncertain future for them (it is merely a candidate for a mission at a given time and is loosely tied to the mission). So trying to make a flight plan with dynamic units is implicitly not allowed since it is like trying to make one with no assigned units.

A dynamic unit queued to a mission has no existence in the mission's eyes and this is WAD. Ops planner is a routine at higher level which is coordinating the distribution of assets and the state of missions.

here there is an example scenario and a video :

Attached is the manual (landing planner and serial editor chapters can be ignored)

Appreciate the confirmation. btw, I looked at the example and looked at the manual and this issue was not called out. I was just looking for clarification. I have a bunch of questions on small details like this. But this was the big one. I understand the reasoning and was thinking that was probably an issue. But it is a pretty sever limitation in using dynamic units.

edit: I think a better approach down the road is for the flight plan to be associated with the mission, not the flight.
