Fleet Templates + Top up fleet need to be looked at
Posted: Thu Jul 27, 2023 11:51 pm
Platform: Steam
Build version: v1.1.5.8 (Beta)
Severity: Medium
Annoyance factor: Very High
Confusion for new players: I can only imagine!
Saved game:
My defense fleet template has in it:
* 12 frigates
* 4 destroyers
* 3 fuel tankers.
The 3 rightmost fleet template buttons at the top are enabled (ship role up/downgrade, trim excess ships and auto-upgrade obsolete specific designs).
Here’s the result of one of my defense fleet having that template after clicking on the “top up” button:
It’s a mess!
On top of having a gazillion ships (trim, where are you?), they're all frigates (no destroyers whatsoever!). And not having destroyers isn’t because I can’t build any: I’ve just manually ordered the construction of 4 destroyers, and they’re being built.
Here’s a screenshot of my fleet template:
And it doesn’t happen only with that template. It pretty much does with all templates.
This is immensely annoying, because it eats a lot of credits and resources, for no reason. And fixing the problem involves a lot of micromanagement.
Until this can be properly fix, I suggest that clicking on the top up button, instead of immediately doing its thing (adding to the fleet whatever ships it thinks appropriate to add), would show what it “intends” to do (what changes would be made to the fleet), and allow the player to accept or reject its proposed changes. Even better would be allowing the player to adjust/modify these proposed changes.
This would only be a temporary solution though. Because I suspect that in most cases, the top op “proposition” would be rejected.
