My work computer has been cleaned and windows reinstalled as it was very slow. They installed windows 2000 professional on it (I had NT before). Everything is fine but wir runs lightining fast even on high/high delay setting. How can I slow it down? Thanks for help.

Hi Tom1939,
I run 2000 & it works fine try reinstalling wir again. If that doesn't work try running other programs in the background to slow things down or try switching the ram allocation to programs/graphics to very low other than that I'm not sure how you can get around it

Try using a CPU slow down program that are designed specifically to allow people to play old games on todays superpowered computers

Thanks I tried one but I still have problems. I slowed my cpu down to 10 %. The result is that the combat (aircombat or ground) is still very fast (barely seeable) but the graphics of wir slowed down unacceptably. It takes several seconds if I right click on the hq to see its inside. Any suggestions? I have 3 games going and 2 is unplayable this way... With Rick I can play until blizzards but the it gets difficult after I attack...

It could be that you may have display problems.
Have you checked the Hardware Device Manager (right click on My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager)
Is there any device with a question mark?
If not, check if you have the latest display driver.
Hope it helps.

I once used a slow down program that had two different options for slow down: "speed" and "reaction". It took some time to find the optimal combination.
If the program you tried has two or more options, try to use different settings. With a little bit of luck, it should work well after some testing

Yes that could be it! My program only had one option! Where can I get one with 2 options?

I was searching for the program I used years ago and found one (german) page where it can be downloaded:
http://newton.pbk-solutions.de/ncu_nbu/slowdown.htm
The exe that comes in the zip file has to run while you play WiR.
I hope it works under Win 2000 (I used it only under Win 95/98) and that WiR will be playable then.

Yes, I did it is on hid delay and high detail... My computer is not fast at all only celeron 400 something with 128 ram. At home with different windows it is no problem with thunderbird 850 and 256 ram. Strange.
