ATG Civilization

Is it possible to create a Location Type that is basically a city with all the functions of a city except that it is created by a special unit (call them "settlers")? I think it would be cool to create an ATG mod that is sort of like Sid Meier's early Civilization games (Civ 1, 2 and 3). Those were a lot of fun. My idea would be to start with a single city and then produce "settlers" to create new cities. I suppose it wouldn't function with the ATG AI but maybe a multiplayer game could be made to work?

Yes.
It is possible. Settlers would be engineers, and then the cities would be able to be built like Factories. You could even make the settlers able to upgrade the city. They however would not disappear as they do in (all?) civilization games. And no the AI probably wouldn't be able to handle it.

I love to play games with a 4X type feel; I make them one town starts and shrouded maps, so I have to discover and expand. The issue is the lack of diplomacy options with the AI. I wish that there was a way to make ATG similar to Shadow Empire but more Civ-like feel. Would love to see a mod of some type like you're describing here, or a large multiplayer ATG game organized around this concept.

well, if you want more procedural content (and thus better AI), I would go vote on this pole:

Thanx for the headsup, ES! I voted for Naval Warfare to get some more love. I'd like to see more work done in the area of creating task forces, refits and "models" for ship production, different stats for naval warfare, etc. to bring ATG a little more up to speed with the War in the Pacific/Uncommon Valor series.
