I chose the Wake Island scenario as a learning experience, just bought the game, but when I select ai vs ai the map loads and nothing seems to happen. Any advice would be appreciated.

Normally, you select "Both computer" and select a scenario.

However, the vanilla game does not come with a Wake scenario. Are you playing a mod? Maybe your scenario has no AI files and is only meant to by played by PBEM?

Even in a computer vs computer game you must click the "End the orders phase" button (or "e" key) - once for the Japanese side, then a second time for the Allied side - in order to launch the turn resolution phase.

In the settings you can select the "turn cycle" to "Continuous" if you don't want to end the orders phase manually each turn.

However, I doubt you will learn much from a comp vs comp game.

There is a 'Return to Wake' scenario in slot 18. It's description touts it as a training scenario.

Well, I don't have this scenario in any slot. Anyway, LST gives sound advice re AI vs AI play.

That explains it. I did not know that scenario was not vanilla. Thank you so much.
