More Frustrations

1) Situation: Austria-Hungary at war with Italy. Mission: Italy conducts invasion of Dalmatia. A-H defends. Results on tactical map: Italian covering force spotted and engaged, eventually due to losses and damage is forced to retire. No Italian transport force is ever spotted, A-H force continues searching for Italian transport force until time expiration. Italians FAILED to invade Dalmatia, but gain more points despite no A-H sunk, only damaged, while Italy lost a few DDs (yeah, ok, tonnage etc). Back to main (strategic) screen: Italians WON and CAPTURED Dalmatia. Huh??????? From an earlier post, someone mentioned that this could be an anecdotal thing: transports dropping off troops then retiring before finishing. Maybe they pulled a Guadalcanal after Savo, who knows? What we DO know is that the original battle result was MISSION FAILURE on the invasion. This isn't the first time I've seen this, but the third.
2) Corvettes (KE) are weird. Either you start a game in which you can design and build KEs in peacetime, or you can't. Every time I start a game, I take my chances that KEs can be built in peacetime. This is absurd. It'd be really nice to design & build KEs BEFORE war starts and have them either extant or nearly so to conduct trade protection or ASW. Waiting until the shooting starts is replaying Japan in WW2. And please, before anyone chimes in, yes, most nations didn't build up KEs prior to war starting, but this is a game in which YOU decide the strategy, having learned from history.
3) More on KE: Twice in one game, after A-H first successfully defeated Italy, and after losing in a second war against Italy, the existing KEs disappeared. Scrapped by the AI after WINNING, then scrapped again after losing (although this might have been the result of concession, yet this was NOT stated in any way until POOF! the KEs disappeared).
4) Prestige (the ability to remain in the game) versus hostility level. I don't think this is balanced well between A-H and Italy. I've played maybe 30 separate games so far, as A-H starting 1900, and every single game war breaks out between the two nations within the first 2-4 years, and if A-H doesn't lose from prestige loss, then AGAIN within another few years. Balancing prestige and war prevention is more than a fine line. What routinely happens is this: trying to keep peace with Italy, prestige suffers to the point that you MUST increase hostility, which WILL lead to war, prestige never builds back enough to maintain a balance. This is seen by the AI constantly throwing events like "there's a colonial crisis with Italy, what should you do?" repeatedly. I think some tweaking under the hood needs to be done.
I'm going to play another faction and see what happens, I'm tired of trying to play A-H since it seems that the game won't let that faction survive. The longest I was able to take A-H was 1922, so in that ONE case they did better than historically, but still...frustrating.
