Should coastal guns have a Naval defence?

I'm noticing that Coastal Guns have a Naval defense of 0.
Thus, bombardment groups can generally just blast away without much repercussion.
While Coastal Guns do have an attack of 2, it's only useful if the enemy is dumb enough to end their turn within 2 hexes of the Coastal Gun.

That being said, it seems that a warship actively trading salvos with a prepared Coastal Defenses, would be profoundly unhealthy. Would increasing the Naval Defense of Coastal Defense Guns, provide more realistic results (towards damaging attacking naval units)?

And there you have it. Is it intentional that Coastal Guns have a Naval Defense of 0? If so, well then, ok. Or if it's "oops", should it be changed to "2" (like it's attack strength)?

I'd like to add another wish to the above (was going to ask anyway but this thread is as perfect an op as any):

That in the new ZoC screen that Coastal Guns only exert their ZoC on water not land. That way straits guarded by one will become more dangerous to passing enemy ships, as was historical.

Hi

Coastal Guns do have a naval defence of 1, it was increased in a recent patch as a previous change had rendered it necessary:

v1.17.00 – May 31, 2023
Coastal Guns' Naval Defense value increased from zero to one (Mithrilotter).

Note that changes like this only affect new games and not ongoing ones, so if you started one prior to installing the patch, then their defence will still show as zero.
