Blacklist for technologies

I will never research bombard techs for example, so it would be great if I could blacklist this technology path.

Bombardment tech specifically is detrimental, especially when relying on automation. An AI empire without bombardment tech will do better than one with it. They are very, very rarely used, but are prevailantly placed on even destroyer hulls. Even when they are used, they don't really do a better job than conventional weapons (they're too large for their output). That can be more than half the space used on weapons being utilized on a weapon that is mostly ignorable.

I do not think blacklist techs are a worthy thing to develop, though. If you're going to bother to blacklist techs, then you might as well just do manual research.

Your opinion.

Blacklisting technologies would be great for me. I will not research:
- genetics
- bombardement
- rail guns
- later beams
- maneuvering engines

And after I researched all manual, I expect that if I switch to auto research all wanted repeatable techs get researched till I disable them.

Another point If I researched some super techs I don't nedd some other weaker techs.

And generally If I researched manual some keys techs I want to use auto research. The game offers auto research but it does not work like it should. Don't discuss with me. You will not have to use the blacklist feature. I will not write something more to this topic.

This is an open discussion. Just because I don't support you doesn't mean you can tell me not to discuss your topic.

My opinion is that it isn't worth developing, not that it would be useless/undesired/detrimental, etc. The reason is that blacklisting is almost manual tech selection but in inverse. It's apparent you'd like to use automation, but don't like its choices. The suggestion is a mere half-step difference from how it already is. A very small QoL option.

There are simply many other little things that are more deserving of development, like the distance measuring tool. Or the "do not explore or go here" marker. Or queuing orders. Designating fleets to stay in formation in combat. The option for live orbit (though I really don't care about that, lots of people want it). The ability to issue a generic cease-fire order to your forces against a certain empire/pirate when a NAP/protection can't be arranged.

So, yeah, it's gatekeeping, but honestly.

Yes, worthwhile. More player direction and influence for the automations execution of the player's strategy is always welcome.

P.S. seriously, "Gatekeeping"?

Why to discuss suggestions with other consumers. I only wanted that the developers have notice of my desired feature.
But because of people like you that block extended features the developers think "ok not everyone want the feature so we will not add it". This is a little community we should help each other and not block/discuss with each other.
