Hi back in my halcyon days me an my buddy used to play spi's board gamecalled highway to the the reich.A four map monstrosity, that was a helluva lotta fun (still have my copy):) anyways on the second map just north of the son canal there was a town called vegal,an there was a unit(single unit counter) 4 panthers part of a larger formation that was not present on the board at the time, it came in later as a reinforcement east of nijgmengan, anyways the unit was designated as the...189AD...if this means(AD) armour detachment. My question, if anyone knows what unit was this formation culled from?.I had like a battalion of 101 troops around this thing in vegal and could not kill it,and from then on out my buddy guarded this thing like the holy grail(future games)...What great memeories those were god I miss my board gaming days...so much so I havent sold a one....I GOT HUNDERDS OF GAMES FROM THAT ERA!

Matt,
The original boardgame called HTTR was and still is a great game. I've got my maps mounted on board - they were mounted by none other than Ian Trout of SSG fame. While a great game some of its historical research wasn't how shall we say "comprehensive".
To the best of my knowledge ( and Steve Barnes has most of my references on this subject - he's doing the strategy guide - ), the only Panther tanks at Veghel came from the 1st Bn of the 107th Pz Bde. However, there were some truly awesome jagdPanthers that belonged to the 1st SP AT Coy 559 AT Bn. Historically these came in from the West ( under 88th Korps ) and they drove through Schijndel with the FJ troops of KG Jungwirth. They caused quite a stir and shot up heaps of Allied transports along hell's highway in what became known as the Koevering Cut. Eventually they were cleaned up when the "Cold Gp" from the Gds Arm Div arrived.

Heh, it's not for me to shed light on the source material used by SSG.

I regret mounting the maps on boards now. You can't fold them up and you have to find space to store them. So I wouldn't recommend doing it. Best to use a sheet of perspex over the top of the maps.
oh btw any eta on release..cheers.
We're going full bore to have the product signed off by the end of this month. Allow another three to four weeks for manufacture. Should be released by end of September - touch wood.

Please forgive my mispelling. Actually, we have another dutch guy ( pun intended

) on our beta team who has been tremendous in correcting the spelling of place names. In fact just last night he drew my attention to the mispelling of Honinghutje ( our original source map had it as Honinghutie ).

hm, honinghutie, yep I saw it before. That's what the Americans called it in '44. 'Groesbeek was 'groosbeck' and 'Grave' became 'gravey' I believe.......
But I think it's good that someone checks the correct spelling of place names, Ducht IS a difficult language to write. If you ever need help with it, mail me.
