Losing as Allies

Looks like I am again in a bad shape and still for the same reason. I am losing the naval war.
Like a game of chess, I think I am not preparing enough. Few questions:
1. Do you invest in ASW right on turn 1 for light fleet and heavy bomber?
2. Do you stockpile transports and supplies?
3. How do you prevent a Japanese carrier attack on top of San Diego? I am losing two CV each time.

Hmm. I've never seen the Japanese attack anything west of Pearl Harbor. Usually, they seem to stick closer to home.

This is Total War scenario and yes this is possible without US WR increasing. Perhaps, I should go to Global Glory and Deluxe AWD now that the new version is out.

I don't have much mp experience, our game being my 3rd overall (and first with the axis) but my opinion:
1- Yes to invest on asw tech from turn one. Submarines are already difficult to sink with the initial technology, much more if they have advantage. If you wait to see if the germans are investing in submarines and they do, it's too late.
2- Not sure about this, but perhaps trying to always have around 50-60 transports?
3- Last game I built cag's and fighters in southwest Usa, and my opponent didn't dared to attack. (I think I readed about this San Diego attack in same AAR)

This is my second PBEM always playing against AI and I can say this is brutal.
But, I think I forget to buy Militia in Russia too and I agree I invest in ASW too late. Thanks for the tip for San Diego, I will try next time.

Attacking Southwest USA area will only work once against an unexperienced opponent, next time he will have built up the relevant defences...
It can be attempted even if the US has built up defences but the Japs will pay a price.

Defense of two carriers on West Coast. Build AA and a fighter or 2. That will discourage the attacks.
