Doubts about weather

Post by voroshilov17 »

Hello!
Playing some scenarios and Reading the manual, I still have several doubts about weather in this game
1-Does weather and temperature have any effect on supplies? In the real life it does have effect right? Why in this game no (as long as I know)?
2-According to the manual, the temperature in the hexes could be:
Frozen lv1, frozen lv2, frozen lv3
Cold, cool, moderate, warm, hot
However, in some scenarios (like chosin 50), on some hexes, the information below says “very cold”. How can be this understood. This “very cold” status doesn’t support the game (according to the manual). I mean, in which part of the manual is explained this and where does is it located? In the weather information, in the weather report…?
3-Those temperature status explained above only can be seen in the weather report, right? Not in each hexes, right?
4-The manual comments several times about “weather fronts”. Where can be seen those? Or is only an editor thing?
5-I do not understand the “weather zones” thing explained on 17.7 and 17.71 points. Is this relevant on game or is only a editors thing? According to the manual, if you open the weather report, it should appear the scenario summarized with the forecast and the weather zone (1,2 or 3) in your right side with a bullet point. But in my case, the weather zone doesn`t appear. (as you can see in the image attached).
6-When it is said that a location has a “fair” weather is when any weather symbol (nor overcast, rainy or hazy symbol)appears above that location? Correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you a lot in advance!

Snow and mud - as well as frozen rivers and shallow water - impact movement costs. That impacts supply broadcast ranges.
"Very Cold" is defined in 9.1.3. It is any one of the three frozen levels.
3-Those temperature status explained above only can be seen in the weather report, right? Not in each hexes, right?
I think they're shown in Tool Tips.
4-The manual comments several times about “weather fronts”. Where can be seen those? Or is only an editor thing?
Cold fronts and Warm fronts are events. In a cold front, the temperature drops zone by zone - one zone per turn, starting with the northern most zone (depending upon Climate Area). In a warm front, the temperature rises zone by zone, starting with the southern most zone.
Depends upon the size of the map. Only the biggest maps have weather zones. See 17.7.1. Also the Climate Area must be either Northern or Southern. Equatorial Climate Area scenarios don't have zones.
6-When it is said that a location has a “fair” weather is when any weather symbol (nor overcast, rainy or hazy symbol)appears above that location? Correct me if I am wrong.
Sounds right.

Thanks for the response as always!
Now I have some doubts more.
7-When in the manual it's explained all-weather equipment, I guess it refers to all kinds of thermal or night visors that allows aircraft to perform better in "bad weather". However, where can I see this "all-weather equipment" of my units?

8-When in the manual it is said that "interdiction has less effect in poor weather and night turns", what does "poor weather" mean? Hazy? Overcast? Rain, warm?, cold...? What does it exactly refers to?

9-According to the meanual, in each weather zone (or in our scenario, if we have a small scenario without many weather zones), we can have an average temperature of:
-Frozen (level1, leverl2, level3)
-Cold, Cool, Moderate, Warm, Hot

9.1- How can I know if rivers or so are frozen? Does their hex image change in order to show that is frozen? Or if the average weather of the scenario is level 3 I have to assume that all super rivers, shallow aters etc are frozen?

9.2- What role does it play "cold, cool, war, hot...etc temperatures?. I mean, the zub-zero temperatures (frozen) does have a role of freezing some water hexes...but those 5 types of temperature? What are their purpose?

10-Correct me if I am wrong. The only 2 cases in which there aren't weather zones are when we have a small secnario or we have an equatorial climate area.
So, in those two cases, If there is a weather front (for example, let's say, a warm one), all the temperatures will rise in the entire scenario right?

Thanks in advance!

Shown in the equipment report.
8-When in the manual it is said that "interdiction has less effect in poor weather and night turns", what does "poor weather" mean? Hazy? Overcast? Rain, warm?, cold...? What does it exactly refers to?
Any "not fair" weather condition.
9-According to the meanual, in each weather zone (or in our scenario, if we have a small scenario without many weather zones), we can have an average temperature of:
-Frozen (level1, leverl2, level3)
-Cold, Cool, Moderate, Warm, Hot

Shown in the Info Panel while hovering over the hex.
9.2- What role does it play "cold, cool, war, hot...etc temperatures?. I mean, the zub-zero temperatures (frozen) does have a role of freezing some water hexes...but those 5 types of temperature? What are their purpose?
Temperature impacts chemical and nuclear weapons. Temperature impacts the rate at which mud dries and when snow melts. It affects pestilence. Mountains are colder than other hexes and coastline is warmer than other hexes - so you can get frozen conditions in the mountains and snow melt on the coast when other hexes aren't frozen or melted.
10-Correct me if I am wrong. The only 2 cases in which there aren't weather zones are when we have a small secnario or we have an equatorial climate area.

Correct. But note that "small scenario" means any scenario with less than 600 kilometers of vertical range.
