So looked at this and the E13 seems better than the rest, at least until 43-44, so why build E14s and F1 Petes? Since you arent stopped from upgrading as far as I can see?

It is your choice what to build. They all have their uses. Use up ALL engines for unique engines crappy planes since they can be used for training. Then the only cost is for the airframe.

It also makes a difference if you are playing PDU On or PDU Off.

They may also have different uses. Pete can be used in a pinch as CAP from the AV ships to cover the early invasions against Dutch float planes & such. It has 2 forward facing MG's, Jake does not have any. Of course real fighters will just swat them...

Some players see it as gamey to use the E13 on subs, because it should actually be too big for them.
This is only an issue in PBEM games though.

I personally tend to stick with the E13A1 until the E13A1b arrives, even though the E15 has a larger range her service rating is bad. For long range NavS Japan has better planes available anyway, like its PAs and the G3M3.
