I loaded the Legion pod irst onto an MQ9 and found that the range ring was only 5 miles. I know the real range ring is much larger. When i looked at changing the range the program says its set by sensor type not by each sensor. Any comments on how to get a more realistic IRST range ring?

IRST/Visual sensors do not have a range rings. The 5 mile range ring you are seeing is not for the IRST sensor. If you look at the DB you would see that it has a InfraRed Zoom Detection/Classification is 20nm, while the max range is 100nm.
