I'm doing a playthrough as Ikkuro (using XL mod) and found out that they can't research Ship Boarding/Assault Pad because of racial restriction, which means they can't research Troop Transports.

Is there a way around this? I want to be able to use dropships to assault enemy stations and/or planets.

If not, is there another strategy that doesn't involve troop assaults?

Tech trading activated?
Lower the approval of enemy colonies so they get independent. May be by spy missions and war (war wearness).

Hi thanks for replying. Turns out the Ikkuro have a substitute tech called Splinter Pods but I wasn't getting it.

In fact the problem was a mod, Tech Tool Tips, that blocked racial techs from DLC races.

It was also incompatible with XL mod which I like to use.

So after some rearrangement of mods it's all working as intended. Thanks again
