One of these things is not like the others!

So I got into a battle at night before my planes could operate and I had two heavy carriers as part of my force. As soon as the scouts found an enemy ship, the CV squadron went to top velocity and headed the other way (dawn is after the scenario end, so they have no business here other than targets). Several minutes of maneuvering pass, during which a BC that was with the carriers transferred to follow the main force, because why do we want the big guns off in the distance with the carriers? Imagine my surprise when the BC showed up in the battle area...followed by one of the CV's.
Up here is where he is supposed to be. His squadron is set to "line ahead", but he has unaccountably lagged a good bit in his line ahead-ness. I couldn't even use Captain mode to take command of him and have him turn away from the enemy once I discovered him because he's part of a squadron, the rest of which is 50-100 miles away.
