Multiplayer suggestion for new Armored Brigade

Obviously if the new game has multiplayer it's going to be 1-on-1, and that's fine, but I'd like to throw out an idea to enhance the multiplayer experience and I think this could work for player versus player as well as player versus computer.
The idea is this:
You and a group of friends/players organize into a team with each player taking a different level of command through the team.
eg.
1 Player takes battalion command
3-4 players take company command
If that makes sense. You can basically scale up and down who commands how much depending on how large your fighting force/number of players available.
Game play, roughly, would look like:
The player at battalion level would have assets associated with that level at their command and they'd coordinate/manage artillery for the team. They'd be responsible for assessing the bigger picture and moving their units accordingly to achieve match goals. Less/minimal micro managing.
Company commanders would be busy managing their platoons and other assets assigned to them. They'd relay enemy dispositions/movements up to battalion, call in artillery, do more of the micro managing of units.
The overall idea, I feel, is that this could be a system for players to slot themselves into any level of command, whether it's a platoon/tank squad leader all the way up whatever would be the most practical level of command from a game play standpoint.
In this structure you could have a group execute a quick play or campaign against the computer or you can pit a group of commanders against another group in online play. Either way I feel it'd be a fun exercise in teamwork and critical thinking/managing at a tactical to more strategic level.
I think the best I can give as an example of what I'm thinking of is some of the game matches I've watched on YouTube for Steel Beasts like this:

Thoughts?
