Not sure if there is a genuine desire for filling these forms with Viagra adverts. They know their demographic it seems

. Matrix, please sort it out. I've had so many emails from you over the last few days offering me viagra when what I really need is news on strategy games

So you need Viagra and Matrix knows that? WOW! Then again, it did start out as a medicine to lower blood pressure . . .

BTW, email spammers will fake the senders name to try and get a recipient to open the email that they sent.

To avoid any misunderstanding, the E-Mails were from Matrix letting me know about a new post on the forum. And this happens again and again when these people post about viagra. Not Matrix

You should be able to turn off those e-mail notifications. It is a constant fight against spammers. Just be careful not to click on their link on their post, there is a better way to find the url that they are trying to get a person to click on.

These bots are relentlessly on here every single day of the week, unfortunately.

I do my best to get to the reports asap... but when the bot can put out a post every 10 seconds it doesn't take long for even a single one to flood adverts everywhere

Maybe ask new members to fill out a captcha for the first few posts. Like the first 5 posts for example, then the user can post without verification.

Better yet grill them with some questions like:

What is ZOC?
What is a DRM?
What is FOW and how would you deal with it?
Why does stacking limits matter?
Explain the difference between hotseat, PBEM, and MP, and which is used the most.
Explain the benefits of using hotkeys.
Explain the difference between a hasty attack and deliberate attack?
Explain the difference between traditional standard NATO icons versus non-traditional NATO icons and why is this important?

The problem of someone (or someones) posting obscene pictures won't be stopped since that individual that I think did posted those pictures would know those answers.

If it was me, I would write a forum BOT to identify spam posts, just a basic one could just compare wargaming words and phrases , if they dont pass its spam etc... fight fire with fire or bots with bots, its a text war

Unfortunately, this modern wave of bots is powered by chat GPT and can solve all kinds of simple problems, as well as making posts that appear "normal" to most people, before the advertising spam commences after they've lurked "for a while".

It's not like they just create an account and then immediately spam, we already have measures against that.

They lurk for a month, making the odd "real sounding" (but obviously chat GPT) post or two and THEN they spam the forums.

There are no easy solutions except me being here every day trying to dam the tide. So please do report them when you see them, I will do my best to get to them... but sadly, chat GPT is more powerful than our forum software... the fight to stop them from registering has been futile

a good check would be if the words are not in english, you should be able to automate that

if CHAT bot is so inteligent and making good posts, should you ban it

it may make a good member

The last bot joined on Oct 20th and was able to do 10 posts or so the same day. Definitely, limiting a new comer to one post per day during one week is something that should be done imo. I will not solve everything but this is a start.

another day and yet another waste of space joins us, lets all welcome the new spammer and crown them idiot of the week, or hour award as we do seem to get more than out fair share now days

shame they have no life other than to spoils others, i feel for them and do honestly wish there parents had used protection.
