How is the attacking AI now?

Can anyone tell me how the attacking AI is now? I haven't played the game since near release when I found that I could defend very easily against the Axis AI on the attack, even with difficulty settings on highest and AI time set to slow. Has the situation improved? Can the AI do any good on the attack now? If so, I'll try it again with the new update. Thanks.

I think with the last beta (1.06) Vic really improved the AI and we need your feedbacks !

-------------------------------
Changelist for v1.06
-Fixed a big issue that had the human player sharing AI movement bonuses.
-Improved the AI (combat odds calculation in general much improved => less “suicidal” attacks, better artillery usage (less shuffling around, more fire-ing), better night combat odds calculation, bit more focus on actually occupying VPs)

Well, I just played a quick Skyline Drive as Allies, AI on slow and super-hard, not really playing very attentively, just to see if the Axis AI was actually capable of attack. I didn't stand a chance. So that's a good start....Given the force disparity the Axis should win this scenario, I feel, as in real life. I'll try a few others now.

And I tried Stavelot, from both sides, AI on slow and super-hard. I played Allies first and got a major victory. I thought this was disappointing as the AI was on super-hard. It did quite well though. It didn't get as far as Pieper got in reality (Stoumont) and, unlike my previous game (Skyline Drive) this is a scenario that the Axis should probably lose, because they did lose historically. Then I tried it as Axis with the Allied AI defending on super-hard. I could only do precisely as good as the AI, and had a major loss. So, I conclude that the way Stavelot is set up must make it very difficult for the AI as Axis to do anything but lose, due to force strengths and, in particular, due to the turn lengths being quite long and thus allowing the Allies to reinforce quite heavily early on. Maybe for the sake of balance the Allies should be a bit more hampered and slower to react for the first few turns, then the Axis AI might stand a chance of getting to Stoumont.

From these two games so far, though, the AI does seem much better than when I last played, when the game was first released. I wonder how it would do as Axis in the grand campaign?
