harbor not switching sides

Hi

just found another bug that is pretty much capable of ruining a game in certain situations.
I am landing in France at the moment and we have bloody fights at the beaches. I was able to kill a second unit guarding a city with a harbor but a submarine was located there.

The following turn the sub moves away but despite the fact that an American unit was controlling the city the harbor was still under German control. And even worse, moving away and moving in with another unit did NOT change anything.

Now I miss a second harbor to unload troops and push back the Germans.
Cheers

Mika

Hi, thanks for the report, and I did try and replicate this and moved a unit out, and a new one in, and the port did change to Allied on my end in this case?

Perhaps this is just something that has been fixed on my end for the next build.

Yes, I tried to recreate it exactly based on your description, e.g. with the same area of the map, same sequence of events, and with the same units, e.g. the sub in the harbour and then moving it out etc.

Yes quite often you have to move a new unit in for the port to check ownership again. In the provided screenshot that seems difficult of course

I've noticed that when you occupy a city with an enemy Naval unit still in the harbor, the harbor will remain in control of the opposing side until it is empty for a full turn. The opposing side can leave the naval unit in the harbor, repair the unit, or switch with another unit and maintain control of the harbor. I noticed once the harbor sits empty for a turn or 2, then it will flip. I'm not sure if the land unit has to move....Haven't noticed or tried that.

Some might consider camping the harbor gamey, but I don't think so. The ships do have guns they can point at said invaders! The ground units can attack the naval unit every turn, just depends on how bad you (as the defender) want to control the harbor!

Hi,

I was looking for this answer, thank you.

I have experienced the sae phenomena. I took port Sudan with a HQ, and a ship was in port. I could not attack it and so the port and the convoy has stayed in Allied hands. Weird.
This turn I have finally brought an infantry unit in and this chased away the ship, and so I hope (it has been one turn already and nothing has happened, that the port will flip and the convoy end.

It is quite common. Once the naval unit has left you need the land unit to move from the hex and the port will flip immediately (no need to wait a turn). Obviously you need enough action points to move out and move back in (or have another unit to move in). Happens all the time if Japan takes Guam or Midway and there is a sub in port. Also American Samoa if a naval unit is in port.

There is s similar issue where a port will not flip unless you also occupy an adjacent town, but that is discussed elsewhere in the forum.
