Pink Highlighted text - Needs to go

I have the stupid pink highlighted text, just bought eagle day bombing the reich. Game is practically unplayable. I've tried everything I can on the forums, win 11 w64gb ram, 4070.
Shortcut : "C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's Eagle Day to the Bombing of the Reich\btr.exe" -fd -altfont -cpu3 dd_sw -multiaudio -px1920 -py1080 -deepColor -skipvideo

Even tried to run compatibility mode.

Using those WITP configuration tags in your shortcut is not going to work for EDBTR, and that may in fact be part of your problem. How did it run "out of the box" the first time? What version of the game are you playing?
The recommended way to configure the game is through DXWnd.

I am having the same issue. I tried using DXWnd but first had an error about no screen modes. Reinstalled and tried again and now when I click btr, I get some accessing and then nothing.
There is a similar issue with WitP AE, although that seems fixable with some amendments to the shortcut.
Overall I messed around for hours to try and get these working. Can't a patch be released to fix this? Otherwise these games are just going to be lost.

I can't patch anything when I have no idea what is causing the issue. And if it's happening because of some setting on your video card then I probably can't help at all.
I need answers:
1. What does it look like right after installing the game before patching? You shouldn't have to monkey with anything to get it looking right. Toggle on Windowed mode and Direct Draw emulation.
2. What does it look like after patching up with the latest official patch?
3. What is your OS? and graphics card?

In WitP it is related to the lack of the base font the game uses.
The switch -altFont uses an alternate font that solves the problem.
Which font does the game use?

Hi, the game uses "Georgia" font, which is fairly common for older games I think. What fonts does WITPAE use?
I might be able to code in some shortcut switches but I can't guarantee anything.

The base font in WitP-AE I do not know which it is.
The altFont is Lucida Sans Unicode.

I have downloaded the last update. Then I have selected this configuration in options window:

Thanks Nikel for pointing me in the right direction and Boores for your tip.
I added and Alt font toggle in the global performance options so you can now toggle the "Lucida Sans Unicode" font if you want. It doesn't look so bad. Expect this with some other stuff with the next patch coming soon.

If it helps, it works fine on Windows 10, but has the problem on Win11. With the latest patch using laptop with intel EVO 4gb graphics

Thank you! Setting the direct draw fixed it - I didn't need to use the windowed mode
