Reloads

Hi,

I was wondering if there was any news regarding the infamous Reload issue, where people might in MP reload the game as many times as they want to spy or optimise attacks. I am in 3 PBEM games and in one of them I thought "this is impossible ! Two turns in a row doing X ! He must of cheated!".

I try to imagine all the possibilities of how the events could occur naturally and then calm down, as I am otherwise enjoying the game. But the nagging doubt comes back and spoils my experience a little bit. I'm sure others have experienced the same. I saw Elvis mention this in one post a while back.

Is there any counter measure planned by devs on this?

Follow up question: is this an issue with all matrix MP games or just SC?

Generally, if a player reloads too often they get a warning from Matrix. Not sure of the specifics.

Also, Matrix is working on "Autosave" so, as I understand it, when a player loses their game due to comms (or other issue) when they reload it will be the most current play rather than back to the beginning of the turn. I am not sure how often the current game will "Autosave."

It works now in MP and very smoothly 🙂
I have 2 different SC matches going, and the game will pause randomly on a mouse click, 'repackage-save) and continue on. Takes less than 5 seconds.
In a 40 minute turn...I have seen an average of 3 repackaging saves.
Both these matches are with the SC-WW1 DLC scenarios and I am recording them for YT. So are my opponents.
So soon, the community if they wish can see this feature in action if they desire, in case they haven't experienced it yet.
When I was aware that this repackaging-save function was implemented, I was a bit apprehensive that it might break the flow...but at least for me it hasn't. 🙂

Just to add that the auto-save feature that OldCrowBalthazor is describing will be rolled out to this game too in the near future.

I've been waiting to hear a response on this, glad it's coming soon. I would prefer it to save more often that 5 times in 40 minutes, but progress is progress. thanks for the update.

Question: what happens if the save file gets corrupted, perhaps from an interruption while it is being saved? Are older saves conserved so that any reloads will revert back to them (thus avoiding the corrupted one)? I have been a bit wary of saving in the middle of a turn for precisely this reason.

Matrix Games support should be able to roll a PBEM game back a turn if this happens.
