Fairly new to WITPAE and am a bit confused regarding the switch at the bottom of a unit screen. We have an arrow icon with to the right "No Replacements". Does that mean "click on the arrow to change to a No Replacements" status or do the words "No Replacements? reflect the current status quo?

That's the one. It's in the negative meaning now. Click on it and it will say "Replacements on" next to that arrow and that unit will then be eligible to get replacements subject to supply and availability.

I can't think of any reason not to try toggling the switches in this game to see what they do. For example, when looking at the Pilot screen of an air unit and considering transferring some pilots the yellow hypertext at the bottom says "Transfer to Reserve" which means the Air Unit Reserve. Click it once and it changes to "General Reserve" which is the pool of unassigned pilots who are not in training schools. Click it once more and it says "Active" which means the pilot is back on the flight line ready for orders. One more click takes the hypertext back to the "Reserve" default.
