Question on system capabilities

When I try to edit the database and reference the modding guide of FCRS, it seems that "weapon specials" have been changed to "system capabilities" if my guess is correct. Can we get a reference list about the "system capabilities" for systems (used to be called weapons in FCRS) since a lot has changed in the FCSS?

RS specials will not work in Southern Storm. We have increased the number of specials nearly 20-fold in the new game engine for platforms and systems (formerly weapons). Currently, there is no documentation for data editing, as it lags behind other work on the game (I am doing the docs and a number of other things on the game along with a number of RL issues). I can see if I can at least throw together a quick list of codes and what they do (In general terms) this week.

PDF of the Platform and Systems/Munition Specials. Codes in Green are coded in the game. Other will be added over time in other game engines for those functions. AB = abilities, DF = Defenses, and EQ = Equipment for the Platforms. For Munitions and Systems, CP = Capability, DS = Defenses, and GD = Guidance.

Cap do you have the formula/curve for SA value calculation? I found it hard to grasp since some of the SA value data for artillery in the database seems a little bit off. For example: despite having more than twice the amount of A-IX-2 explosive filling (17.8kg for 203mm 3OF43 HE shell vs 7.65kg for 152mm 3OF45 HE shell, 27.41kg vs 11.78kg if translated into TNT equivalent), there is only a 4-point SA value difference between Soviet 203mm 2A44 and Soviet 152mm 2A65 in the data base.

Cap' do you know the difference between Rocket Pod-CL, Rocket Pod-MD, Rocket Pod-IN, and Rocket Pod-OT? Do they refer to the different positions of hanging?

Jim,

Do you have a TO&E and data/unit person to harass? I started picking through the WG forces and I am fixating on the Leopard 1A5, which if you didn't know has better armor than a M1/IPM1/M1A1. Has to be an error, this was a cast turret with steel plates encased in rubber bolted to the turret. It was designed to offer M60 level of protection.

That would be me. I took a quick look and I am seeing conflicting data on the armor. Do you have good sources for the armor values on the Leo 1A5?

Around 70mm los thickness for the hull, for the turret is around 90mm los thickness, added side armor to defend against auto cannons

@tindalos07 - here is the basic curve being used to figure out SA (HE) values based on the diameter of the type of munition. Granted, some shells could be outliers based on design, but I used this for the game based on shell diameters and warhead weight to reach the values shown. Feel free to add more types of munitions for the various guns in your game and set the SA values based on those weights. I'll have to dig to find some of the earlier mm-warhead weight charts that led to this table.
