National Moral

Is it fair to say that national moral does not really count for much in a game, and mainly something to generate atmosphere more then anything else?

A part from France and Italy who have to be careful, the likely hood of other countries going to zero is rather remote.

And the NM bonus over 110% and penalties below 100% do not really constitute a factor in the war it seems. Who cares whether you have 60% or instead 40% moral?

Or am I missing something?

For the Japs it can become an issue after the nukes, for the US if they ignore the pacific for too long.

NM figures into the formula for surrender % after a countrie's last capital falls.

20% morale difference means 10% readiness difference, that's the equivalent of 4 HQ levels.

Yep, fart around in the Pacific, the USA morale goes to garbage. Effects combat.

Once NM goes above or below certain points, it affects unit morale. See attached for the breaking points.

The devs need to update NM to have more breakpoints:

95 - 105% NM = No difference

every other 5% change should change unit morale by +/1 2%

Additionally there should be localized morale boosters. For example, when Tobruk is taken, then units within x hexes get a % boost and enemies withint y hexes lose y% boost. If within z turns of losing a city and that city is recapture then it should be heavy fighting and a bigger boost should occur, or at least a damage mutliplier so both sides take X2 damage or something.

Not hard to code and would be fun to have.

Thank you Archmage, That was a bit my point.
For NM between 75 and 1, the difference is only .5 national multiplier, so basically nothing. It is more a symbolic measure of the situation than something that actually affects gameplay. (Unless I am misunderstanding the rules).

Merry Christmas!
