I updated SC WinE and WatW, now both games won't open. I click on the button in the opening menu and it flickers on the screen for a split second and disappears. This happens with both games.

World War I as well. None of them will open now.

I'd strongly recommend contacting Matrix Games support as hopefully they'll be able to help you resolve this very quickly:

This could be AV software related, I'd suggest trying to 'whitelist' the game EXEs to see if this helps, or the USER folders the game uses to see if this helps as well.

I don't know what you mean by "AV", but all three games work working just fine before I updated them. In all the years I've played, my computer has not had a problem with running these games.

AV = Anti Virus software

Understood, I'm just guessing as to why it is not working for you and it could be the heightened setting for your Anti Virus software not wanting to allow a change that is required with this patch to have a change made in your INI files.

Try the following for WiE and let's see if this works for you as a way around this, navigate to the following folder:

\Users\Hubert\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War in Europe

Open the file labelled SC3.ini

Add the following line under #FULL_SCREEN=:

#WINDOWED_MODE= 0

Save and close the file, and let me know if the game launches after that.

I've had the same antivirus for years running these games. Obviously, if I'm the only person having this problem with the updates, then it has to be something with my computer, but I am not getting any warnings or notices that my AV is blocking any function of these programs. I'll turn it off and try to run a game.

I disabled my AV and the problem persists. I submitted a ticket with tech support.
