AFAIR they never got the stronger ~900PS engines that would have permitted them to carry/lift more weight.
With the older ~700PS (or less) engines load was ~200kg max
MTOW was likely 2200kg, with 200kg bombs it was already 2175kg

That's possible. I am far from being knowedgable about Air stuff.
But in "Flugzeug Profile 42" they state:

The Hs 123 primarily had the So III bomb delivery system, in which four 50 kg bombs were suspended in pairs from ETC 50/VIIIb on the lower wings. It was also possible to carry up to 450 kg of other external loads of various calibers instead of the usual four SC 50 bombs.
And in the datasheet later on they give the BMW 132A-3 (632 PS/ 465 kW) and also state that up to
450kg was possible to be attached at 5 different attachment points at the end of the datasheet.
