Here's a little something I decided to do for the Headquarters screen in ToS:WS to keep my eyes from melting, figured I might as well share it.

All I did was replace the grey area in the topmost box with black. The info text that appears in the box is yellow, and yellow text on light grey background = severe pain in the eye for me.

Just unzip it and drop it into your Tos:WS images folder. Don't forget to back up or rename the original one if you wanna keep it (i.e., if you're into the whole eye-punishment thing ).

You do know that you've lost all guarantee with this modification to the original ToS:WS product, don't you?

Somebody at Matrix forgot to pack all the resource files up. Tsk, tsk (evil laughter).

I might even plug some classic Maiden in sooner or later, if the urge strikes me. Surely that would reinstate any previously voided guarantees?

That would not only reinstate the full garuantee but would extend the validity from here to eternity, if you get my drifter?!

I've been listening to early Iron Maiden while walking my dog lately.
I've seen them in concert many times. Their soundman was cool enough to let me stand next to him at the mixing board. They have/had a really great sound.

Man, you just haven't lived until you've seen a live performance of Rime of the Ancient Mariner. I think I was around 15 when Somewhere on Tour came to my neighborhood, and it was the best concert I've ever been to in my life.

Every time I come across an Ancient Mariner in ToS, I always think, "Hm... I wonder..."

Looks like I can stop wondering now, eh!

Same for me... My first Iron Maiden concert also has been Somewhere on Tour. It was awesome! I went to the concert in Hanover/Germany with a good old buddy of mine, and we arrived at the concert hall about 20 p.m. in December!. It was a very cold night and we arrived on a large parking site which had a scenery like being a roman war camp. Everywhere between the cars on the parking site were large camp fires which the maiden fans had piled up and lit to make the night a bit warmer. People were stading around the fires dressed in black leather and listening to maiden songs coming out of the cars standing nearby. My buddy and I had painted our faces to look a bit like EDDIE and so we did perfectly fit to the atmoshpere. The other Maiden fans invited us to drink their beer and then we were ready to enter the concert hall.

I do not try to share the awesome atmosphere in the hall while everyone was waiting for the band, and I also don't want to make a review of the concert, but maybe you can imagine how excited we were in the middle of the concert and in the middle of the song "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" when the slow part of the song started. We were listening to the sound of Dave's guitar and Steve's bass as well as to the sound of creaking wooden ship planks when suddenly the whole stage was slowly covered with old ship sails they usually had on old three-masters. This was only one out of ten highlights of this concert, and the fans where so pleased with the band that they called them out for three additional encores. Never had I seen a better concert than this, not even with Iron Maiden (although they were close to it most of the time).

Yes! Others I've spotted are the Duellist, Purgatory, and Prowler. Possibly the Pharaoh (a tribute to Powerslave maybe)? Are there any more? I guess I'll just have to make a Trooper myself. :p

The Mariner is one of my favorite assault designs. I just about always have one in my MP special teams, so I see him a lot more often than the others.

Marga, that description really brought back some memories! The interlude during Rime was amazing. I clearly remember the things you mentioned, and also that eerie blue backlight that had some kind of effect on it that made the light move like water. When the giant Eddie came out on stage, everyone just went nuts. And remember Bruce's "electric" jacket?! I have so many memories of that show. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

I still have my Iron Maiden button pin collection. I used to wear a denim jacket full of them back in high school, and all my teachers figured I was some kind of devil worshipper. Haha...

If I had to name one reason why I chose bass over guitar when I first started playing, Harris would be the reason.

Funny, I've just watched their Rock n Rio gig last night at a friend's. We were reviving the old days, when we would attend each and every HR/HM concert that would make it this way. It was 5:45 am when I hit the sack
Yep, Steve rocks. My friend knows him personally, he has this bar in Algarve. Bruce is something else too. Great band.

I've been to algarve. Great beaches. I was told we'd have water from the gulf of mexico but it felt more like from the gulf of the antartic. Then I stubbed my toe and all the skin was torn off.

Bad day then. Usually you can stay the whole day in it.
