Basic Buttonology Peace Phase Options

Greetings!

I have played Wif on the tabletop before, but I'm re-learning the computer game after many years of not playing it.

Specifically, I can't find the interface to declare Vichy or force the Vladivostok-mediated Soviet/Japanese armistice. Yes, the Axis have occupied Paris (and then some) and Vladivostok (and then some), but no interface option pops up, and I can't find what I'm looking for in the menus or the game manual.

Please help!

Thanks,
P

Peace option between USSR and Japan has not yet been implemented. Doubt it ever will. So once Japan and USSR are at war they will remain at war.

Vichy question comes automatically by the program during conquest in end of turn. If you at that point fulfil the demands to declare Vichy. So nothing for Germany to do other than to wait it out, and keeping a unit in Paris in supply. Edit: And, of course, continue with their other plans to win the game.

Under Info > Optional Rules > Other Rules you can activate USSR - Japan Compulsory Peace optional rule. But as Orm has pointed out, this rule is one of the few optionals, which is not yet implemented. If this option has been chosen, you could agree with your opponent to edit the game file accordingly. To change control of hexes seems to be one of the easier challenges in editing the file.

Ok, thanks.

It's a solitaire learning game, so permission is not a factor.

I forgot about the German unit in Paris, and putting one in takes care of Vichy.

WRT Soviet/Japanese peace, I could swear I've seen threads talking about "automatic hex control changes." Are all those people really editing the game files?

If I just leave USSR and Japan at war, with the condition that neither attack until "the next war," do I need to worry about secondary effects, like production multiple increases that wouldn't have happened otherwise?

Yes, there are several side effects, if SU and JP stay at war. The most important one is, that SU at peace = neutral = only allowed to take Combined impulses. For the SU it would be a huge advantage, to be able to take Land impulses before GE attacks. Of course you could just still only take Combined intentionally.

Another one is the Soviet reserves, and MIL, would be removed until USSR is at war again. And that USSR can not build MIL. There are ways to work around that as well.

Production should not be affected, Unless there is a Soviet unit on the Japanese home islands, or other weird things.
