Is it possible to check which enemy naval stacks are around before doing a Carrier Pursuit?

Here, my Japanese naval stack of 6 CVs is doing a Carrier Pursuit on two subs. Whereas at the same distance, there is an US naval stack with 2 CVs and 4 BBs.

Is it not possible to code that, whatever is there in the naval stack (fog of war), a Carrier Pursuit is ALWAYS done against surface ships before the subs?

I'm trying to think if CVs were ever used to chase subs. Perhaps if they chanced upon one, but seek and destroy was usually left to CVE/ASW forces. The Japanese in particular felt it was the primary duty of fleet carrier forces to engage and destroy the enemy battle fleet. Certainly, it would be a huge priority over suppressing submarine activity.

The Enterprise around Pearl Harbor in January 1942 but this was very early in the war. Nothing after imo. If there are subs only, why not? But, in this situation, if I decide to go for a Carrier Pursuit, this is really to go after the surface ships.

The sub sunk would have been the Japanese submarine I-70 which was attempting to intercept the Enterprise when she was caught on the surface by an SBD from the carrier. This was on December 10th three days after Pearl Harbor when the Enterprise task force was patrolling around Oahu in case the Kido Butai was still about. So, basically a chance encounter while engaged in other duties. But if Japanese carriers had still been about, they would have been the priority even given the bad odds. Given that the Japanese sub was attempting to engage the task force not really a pursuit either.

So, in conclusion, Carrier Pursuit must always be versus surface ships in the first place.

The I-70's sole claim to fame is being the first Japanese warship sunk by U.S. aircraft during World War II. But, yeah, I think I need to give up on Pacific War minutiae and learn coding instead. A much more valuable skill.
