[1.25i] Planet with -160C glaciers next to 30C plains

I have a bit of an odd planet that doesn't immediately strike me as being something that should be able to occur (although it does make for an interesting game). Colossus class world, 200m years old. 5g and 4778 mbar of atmosphere H2/He/N2 in equal parts. So it's definitely a weird planet... but is it broken, or is it weird but WAD? It has some frozen ocean hexes (all -160C or lower), some frozen mountains (ranging around -10C to -120C as far as I've seen), and some tundra (ranging from -1C to maybe -60C). Most of it, though, is flat terrain that's between 1C and 40C, to include liquid oceans. There are places where the -160C glaciers are, as per title, adjacent to 30C plains. Is this bugged? Is this a weird thing where the atmosphere is thin but dense, and the 2d map has trouble showing where plains slope upward to higher elevation? (S.MAP height filter doesn't seem to suggest this.) Is this about a young planet with a hot core being weird? Anyway, it seemed like enough of an anomaly that I should report it. Having areas that are easily passable but more lethal to rest on than all but the highest radiation zones does make for unique gameplay, although it's weird to see thousands of free folk casually living in those environments...

This does sound like cool and interesting terrain. But I cant think of any realistic physical process to explain it.

One thing which comes to mind, is that -160c is (perhaps) a plausible precipitation point in that Hydrogen (Deuterium?)-Helium-Nitrogen atmosphere. But I think it would be a methane cycle, like Titan, then.

It was apparently high-altitude glacial terrain with an atmosphere that was compressed really close to the planet's surface, but it was also a bit exaggerated compared to what it was supposed to be. The result was terrain that should probably have been hard to move on or off of (and dangerous to stay on), but was basically just really dangerous plains that you could mine ice on. It was interesting, but I ended up getting overrun by the two majors I was stuck between (Spread Out was not working great on the planet either).

The reported avg wind speed of 321 m/s is also, to put it mildly, disturbing.

In case anyone is wondering, that's 718mph (1155kph) winds, probably gusting to well over 1000! To put that into perspective, a relatively strong Earthly tornado rotates with windspeeds in the neighborhood of 200mph.

the atmosphere...compresses. Do they actually do that, so much?

It's a very good reason either way. I think the ambient temperature at the top of Mount Everest is about -50^oC lower than at sea level. The map here would probably benefit from an escarpment obstacle along the edge of the glacier.

And also maybe a bonus for aircraft based on top...?
