Try to drive the enemy into the coast. The AI seems to blunder around in the shallows, nosing onto land and losing speed every time. Often going into single file at low speed trying to get somewhere.

A couple of times I've been able to massacre them in this posture, ranging up and down the coast and picking them off.

This may well go away in later releases though.
