Multiplayer lobby not able to connect

Hi Steve,
reindeer dundee and myself tried to connect through the PIFT multiplayer lobby today. I have the Steam edition of the game and my oponent was used the Matrix edtion. We both tried hosting but the same result: the game incurs a freeze at "connecting to opponent" and we can not connect.
In the GtC lobby we could connect and play without issues though. Can something be done here?

Hi SchnelleMeyer - I just did a quick test of the PitF lobby and was able to successfully connect with one Steam client and one stand-alone client.

It sounds like you're able to see each other in the lobby and offer to host/join, but the freeze happens when the person receiving the offer accepts? Or are you able to accept and move on to setting up the game options?

Gateway to Caen and Panthers in the Fog use essentially the same lobby system, so it's odd that connecting via one game would work while the other would not.

I would recommend that you both log in to the Sitherine forums at www.slitherine.com using the account name and password you're trying to use to connect to the Panthers in the Fog lobby, just to make sure the accounts are working properly. Assuming there is no problem logging in to the Slitherine forums I'd then recommend you use your default web browser to delete any cookies and cached data for www.slitherine.com, on the off chance that that is interferring with the lobby logins (which do use this information.)

Also try waiting a few minutes for the connection, assuming you're not already. The first step in the connection process is for the client to attempt a direct connection to the host and this can take 30 seconds or so to time out.

Hi, thanks for the assistance.

Yes, we can see each other and the freeze happens after accepting an offer to host/join. We do not reach the game options and setting up the game.

"Gateway to Caen and Panthers in the Fog use essentially the same lobby system, so it's odd that connecting via one game would work while the other would not." - My thoughts exactly.

I will try to do the forum login and delete any cookies or cache as you say and try again. And maybe we also should wait even longer for the game to connect. I am not sure if we waited 30 seconds.. GtC connected within 10 seconds or so.
